It’s All About the Climb

To quote Hannah Montana, AKA Miley Cyrus, “It’s all about the climb.”
Yes, a whole new tennis season has begun. Last year, you think, was not a great winning season. So, ask yourself, if you were at the correct level you should have been. Was the level too high? Was the level too low? It can go either way.
If a player is competing at that championship level, then the mind needs to also be at that championship level. “There’s always going to be another mountain. I’m always going to want to make it move. There’s always going to be an uphill battle. Sometimes I’m going to have to lose.”
That “mountain” could be that one player that you have never been able to beat. So, you keep on climbing. Don’t stop trying. That championship level means you are going to have to keep fighting. You have to fight for every point. “Keep the faith.”
Then, there is the complete opposite level – the beginner’s level. I, personally, respect those beginners so much. They are out there, on that court, learning how to play the sport of tennis. Frustration is a major factor as some lose matches when they are introduced to ladies league tennis. These ladies are figuratively climbing Mount Everest. The greatest thing is the fact they are out there, fighting, climbing and learning.
Whether you are Open, Championship, level A, B or C, all players are out there for a purpose. We “love” tennis and that means “something”, not “nothing”.
It’s all about the climb. Ladies, you just keep on climbing.
Let’s take it to the net.
